India’s star wrestler Bajrang Punia won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in the men’s 65kg wrestling competition. Bajrang defeated defending world silver medalist Daulet Niazbekov 8-0. This is the 6th medal for India at the Tokyo Olympics.
On Saturday, it was a complete domination performance by Bajrang Punia’s bronze medal fight. Bajrang was influential in his aggressiveness and defense. He gave no room to his opponent Niazbekov, who could not prevent him from surrendering to Punia’s tactics.
Bajrang Punia was India’s biggest bet at the Tokyo Olympics. Bajrang Punia is the only Indian wrestler to win 3 medals at the World Wrestling Championships.
India, on the other hand, lost another bronze medal by a whisker in golf this morning. Aditi Ashok missed the podium finish via whisker and ended up in fourth place. On the final day, she finished 15 under-par and was just one stroke behind world No. 11 Lydia Ko, who was tied with Japan’s Inami Monae for 16 under-par.
