“The move is detrimental to Sindhu and brands are abusing their power,” said Yashwant Biyala, director of talent and partnerships at Baseline Ventures. “But the biggest problem now is that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) prevents Sindhu from approving its true partners today.”
Brands that sponsor Sindhu have been blocked by Rule 40 of the Olympic Charter, so she cannot post congratulatory posts. Biala said that it was only the beginning of sending notices to brands and would soon work on procedures to protect Indus’ personal rights. “We certainly won’t leave it after the notices are sent out,” he said.
Biala said that he had been approached by other sports marketing firms that brands had done with their athletes. “They are asking if they can join us and take all the brands,” he said.
